Manita’s dedication stems from personal experience. Growing up, she witnessed a close family member endure the pain and confusion of not being accepted for who they were. This family member faced bullying at school and even a traumatic attack on a bus in Mauritius, leading to lasting PTSD. Manita’s best friend, also part of the LGBTQ+ community, had to leave Mauritius for Switzerland in search of a life free from family rejection and social ridicule.
These experiences are a stark reminder that not everyone has the opportunity to leave challenging environments. This is why Manita’s commitment to supporting the community and being part of an organization that champions LGBTQ+ equality and rights is deeply personal and significant.
